Each year, the American Chemical Society honors the best of the best within the industry.  On May 1, Renkert Oil was honored to sponsor and present this year’s ACS Rubber Division Chemistry of Thermoplastic Elastomers Award.

Dr. Timothy Long, alumnus and Chemistry professor at Virginia Tech, is the 2019 winner of the Chemistry of Thermoplastic Elastomers Award. Before becoming a professor at his alma mater, he spent nearly a decade as a research scientist at Eastman Kodak Company. His research focuses on biomaterials and their impact on gene/drug delivery, tissues, regeneration and biomedical devices.

He also founded The Long Research Group, which showcases his ability to manage a 20-member research team. Over the past 17 years, he’s received around $43 million for funding and partnered with dozens of major companies, such as 3M, P&G, IBM and ExxonMobil.

Other notable accomplishments include over 43 patents in the field of macromolecular science and engineering, over 230 peer-reviewed publications and many other prestigious honors.

As suppliers of TPE extender oils we at Renkert Oil like to say, “we put the soft in soft touch.”  The Renkert Oil team was more than happy to present Dr. Long with another well-deserved award—we look forward to all that he is bound to accomplish in the coming years.
